Matthew Dickerson and David O’Hara will be teaching a 4-week creative writing class on trout and environmental issues in Alaska, focusing on the char genus and Dolly Varden trout–while both of them work on new writing projects of their own. Be watching this page in late July and August for stories and articles from the authors and their students. And look for some new books to emerge from this trip in 2016.

Meanwhile, a short narrative essay that Matthew wrote while in the foothills of coastal Oregon working with David on Downstream: Reflections on Brook Trout, Fly Fishing, and the Waters of Appalachia was recently published in the literary journal Written River.  The essay appeared in the print version and is also available online here if you’d like to read it. In non-trout non-fishing related news, Dickerson just had his first fantasy novel published. It is titled The Gifted and is the first volume of a three-volume novel collectively titled The Daegmon War.  You can order it at your favorite local bookstore. Or, if you must purchased books online, you can do it here: http://www.amazon.com/Gifted-Daegmon-War-Matthew-Dickerson/dp/0899577962/.
